Session #100 · 1987–89

Speech #1000087095

For surely the world would not permit such to reoccur. Yet the Armenians tragedy was forgotten all too quickly. And crimes against humanity on an even larger scale occurred years later. The world lives with a terrible. open wound. 1.5 million of its own perished in 1915 and 1916 alone in forced marches and outright massacres. Some of todays Armenian community were witness to the deportations and massacres of their families and friends in the Ottoman Empire. Others have only read or heard about these atrocities. All of them live with the knowledge that their peoples very survival was in jeopardy in the Ottoman Empire.
