Speech #1000079706

They are the beginning of a journey down a long road. How far we go down that roadhow far we go toward resolving the complicated humanitarian problems which remain as haunting and cruel reminders of the Vietnam warwill depend on our political will. Whether we are talking about MIAs and POWs. political prisoners in reeducation camps. Amerasians. those who have applied to leave through the Orderly Departure Program. refugees in the camps throughout the region or even the horrors of Cambodia. improved United States relations with Vietnam continues to be the only real key. That means diplomacy. creative and energetic diplomacy. And it means political will.
