First. the President must confirm to Congress that the Turkish Government has provided an accounting of the five American citizens who have been missing since 1974. Second. Congress must receive a report on efforts to have Famagusta/Varosha returned to the legitimate government of Cyprus for resettlement of refugees under U.N. auspices. Recent movements of personnel into this area threatens to change the demographic composition of the island and potentially delay the prospects for the eventual peaceful resolution of the Cyprus situation. I urge my colleagues to join in efforts to bring peace to Cyprus and selfdetermination for the citizens of that island nation.
