June 14. the latest attempt of many to return peace and unity to the Republic of Cyprus was made. and this is something that the American people basically are not aware of. This time the attempt came in the guise of several hundred unarmed peaceful women. who attempted to return to their homes in occupied Cyprus by crossing the socalled green line. These women. while joined by participants from around the world. and many from the United States. I might add. were primarily some of the 200.000 Greek Cypriot refugees who were forced to leave their homes in the north by the Turkish invaders. They sought no trouble. They wanted no more than one of humankinds most basic rights. the right to live peacefully in their own land.
