Session #100 · 1987–89

Speech #1000061747

Since coming to this country. these Poles have been productive members of the American community despite the difficulties they face. According to the Polish American Congress. none are on welfare. Poles are a proud people. lawabiding. and willing to undertake any job to further their existence. They are committed to bettering the economic and social status of themselves or their children. There is no future for them in Poland. Their only future is here. President Reagan supports this legislation. So does Attorney General Meese. It is time we gave these refugees a permanent home. I urge my colleagues to support this legislation.o
