Session #100 · 1987–89

Speech #1000059081

President. I want to call the attention of my colleagues to the case of Naum Meiman. Naum is a friend of mine who has asked to leave the Soviet Union for over 10 years to emigrate to Israel. but he has been refused continually. Naums desire to obtain an exit visa has resulted in a long and harsh struggle. His wife. Inna. who was also denied emigration. consequently died of inadequate treatment of cancer. Naum Meiman is an elderly man. whose only desire is to emigrate to Israel and to see his daughter. Olga. who lives in the West. Naum. realistically. will not live for too many more years. It is time Naum be granted his freedom and permission to emigrate to Israel. I strongly encourage the Soviet Government to allow Naum to leave the Soviet Union..
