NJ. so enthusiastically. I know that Rahimdad is glad too. Mr. President. life has been a nightmare in Afghanistan since the Soviet Union invaded that country in 1979. Some 1V2 million Afghani lives have been lost since the beginning of the Soviet intervention. and another 4V2 million Afghani refugees have fled to Pakistan and Iran. Those courageous individuals who remain suffer intolerable hardshipscourageous individuals like Rahimdad. The Soviet occupation has shattered Rahimdads life.
