Recently. through his own untiring efforts. the help of family and friends. and through some additional assistance that I and other Kansans were able to provide. Mr. Ebadis wife succeeded in getting out of Afghanistan and obtaining permission to come to the United States. The Ebadis will soon be reunited. I share the deep joy of the Ebadi family. But I know they share with me. as well. a determination never to forget the tragic plight of literally millions of other oppressed Afghansinside Afghanistan. in refugee camps in Pakistan and in places of asylum around the globe. These millions remain victims of a brutal Soviet oppression. and we will not abandon their cause until they are free.
