Session #100 · 1987–89

Speech #1000002518

Mr. President. I am pleased to inform my colleagues of the very good news that my friend. Inna Meiman. will leave the Soviet Union for cancer treatment here in Washington. DC. Inna arrives on Monday. January 19. 1987. I welcome this news and look forward to welcoming Inna to our great Nation. The good news about Irma is tempered greatly. however. by the Soviets denial of a visa to her husband. Naum. to join her. As any physician knows. the support of a patients family is crucial during treatment for serious illness. Many of my colleagues worked tirelessly on behalf of the Meimans. most notably former Senator GARY HART.
