Korean Air Line flight 007 was shot down by the armed forces of the Soviet Union. Among the 269 passengers and crew who lost their lives that day were the parents and two younger brothers of Sueng Ho Jang and Sueng I1 Jang. The family had come to the United States under the terms of the Treaty/ Trade Agreement. and had been issued E1 visas. They had lived in New York. where the father had been the chief mechanic for Korean Air Lines. Unfortunately. under the terms of the agreement. the surviving brothers visas became invalid with the death of their father. The Immigration and Naturalization Service has confirmed that these two young men are financially independent and will certainly not be a burden to society. The older brother. Sueng Ho Jang. is enrolled in a masters degree program in economics at New York University.
