I want to mention a few members of the Republican leadership. just as I know that the distinguished minority leader may have already mentioned. or will mention. members of the Democratic leadership. I have had a great deal of help from Senator ALAN SIMPsoN. the assistant majority leader. In addition to the landmark immigration bill which I believe never would have passed without his tenacity. he has been very helpful to me in contacting Members and doing a lot of things that one person could not do. The distinguished President pro tempore. Senator THURMOND. is here today as he is here every day.
