Our ports are this Nations gateway for importers. exporters. manufacturers. and farmers alike. They help support a strong national defense and provide friendly waters for U.S. vessels. This past summer. in the Port of New York. we had the opportunity to celebrate our symbol of liberty and enjoy the beautifully restored statue along with some of the worlds finest sailing ships. Ports. for many. were the first image of America as they immigrated to this new land. Our Nations ports are responsible for generating well over $60 billion in benefits to the local community. Port facilities also generate over 1 million jobs and $12 billion in tax revenue.
