I assure the Senator from Michigan that we expect that the additional resources this bill provides for the INS will allow it to perform its regular duties as well as the added duties this legislation calls for. I also assure them that it is my intention that the additional resources should go where they are needed. I understand that many States which do not actually border on Mexico have large illegal alien populations. that Michigan is one of these States. and I can assure him that those who crafted this bill intended for States like Michigan to receive their fair and needed share of the additional resources.
