From our discussions in the conference. and between members of the conference committee and the administration. we managed to make important progress on the issues. The senior managers from the Judiciary Committees of each House have agreed to act on the matter in a separate bill very early in the next Congress. and to raise no procedural obstacles to a straight House and Senate vote on the issue. In addition. the conferees were advised by the Attorney General that he will initiate a case by case study of all pending deportations to El Salvador. and more closely examine subsequent cases. On these assurances. I will vote for the agreement and urge its adoption.
