Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990275355

I would like to point out to some of my colleagues who are worried about what is going to happen to people who stay in here if we do not have amnesty. I will tell you what they are going to do when they cannot get a job. They are going to go back across. Nobody is going to round them up. Nobody is going to do anything about that. The question here is what price are we willing to pay to get an immigration bill? I think the price is too high if it is amnesty. I think the price is too high if it is 45 to 90 million more people in this country over the next 10 years.
