I think the figure is closer to 20 million illegals in here today. We have 280 million American citizens in this country. We take in about 500.000 immigrants legally each year. If we have 20 million illegals in this country and. as the Environmental Fund says. maybe we will have 64 percent or so of them come forward and register under the amnesty provision of this law. and the average immigrant in the 10 years after he first becomes a permanent resident brings in seven family members. as many expect will occur. that means that if there are 20 million here today. in 10 years we will have 90 million people added to the American population or by more than onethird increase the number of people in this country in 10 year. We cannot absorb and assimilate. we cannot afford to do that. We can take in 50.000 maybe we can take in a million a year. but we cannot take in 90 million.
