Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990275259

There are things which people have a right to do in this country. in my judgment. for which they can expect privacy. but I think we ought to advise them not to do it in open fields. At least if they are going to do it in open fields. they ought not to be surprised if their privacy is not fully there. We have dealt with the Immigration Service here and they say this is a very serious problem in their ability to enforce immigration laws. drug laws. laws against exploitation of individuals. Privacy means if you have got a confined space that people do not break in on it. The Supreme Court has recently ruled. by the way. that this search warrant is not required in these kinds of circumstances.
