Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990275029

I appreciate the remaining 30 seconds from the agricultural portion of this debate. So I would urge my colleagues to think carefully about the dynamic of chain migration. the dynamic of this echo effect that causes so many more to come. legally. based on the chain of someone who came here illegally. I do not think this House wants to do that. We have a chance by voting for the McCollum amendment and for the Fish amendment to send this bill to conference in much better shape for the kind of result that will do us proud in immigration reform. May I say in conclusion how much affection I have for the intellect and persistence of the gentleman from Kentucky who I think ought to be given credit for all the work that has been done in immigration reform.
