I would have said go away. you are crazy. And if that same person would have said to me. after you fashion the compromise. you will create as many problems for the bill as you have solved. I would say you are equally crazy. But immigration is strange. and that is indeed what has happened. We arrive here today with that compromise as modified by the Lungren proposals on the floor before us. I would say to my colleagues that they should look at it carefuly.
