Over the past 5 years. in the Judiciary Committee alone. immigration reform legislation has been the focus of 23 days of hearings. during which we have heard testimony from over 250 witnesses. In addition. during that period. we have had 18 days of subcommittee and full committee markup. and during the 98th Congress. the House considered the bill for 7 days. Following that.
