Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990274608

Although there are many pressing and important issues to discuss. the importance of human rights cannot be exaggerated. Human rights are the basic ingredient of a civilized society. We have a responsibility to do all that we can to help everyone attain the freedom that they deserve. I would like to make a special plea for my Soviet friends Naum and Inna Meiman. They have been trying to emigrate for more than 10 years. Naum has always been a vocal leader attempting to bring human rights to all Soviet citizens. He was an instrumental member of the Helsinki Watch Group.
