I hope they wont forget the members of divided families in the United States who await similar word that the U.S.S.R. is granting permission for their loved one to leave and be reunited with them. For one divided spouse in particular. that word has been long in coming. Dr. Galina Vileshina. currently a resident in my district. arrived in the United States 6 years ago. She left Lithuania expecting that her husband. Pyatras Pakenas. would also emigrate shortly. However her husband has been denied permission to leave 15 times in 6 years. No reason for the denials has ever been given.
