Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990265791

For their efforts( to assist with the Helsinki agreements. Orlov and Shcharansky were imprisoned and Naum Meiman and his family were ostracized from Soviet society. It has been more than a decade since Naum and Inna Meiman have requested to emigrate from the Soviet Union. Their quest for repatriation to Israel is the Meimans lifelong dream. but their desire to leave the Soviet Union now has additional importance. A fifth tumor has appeared on Innas neck. The Soviet doctors feel there is nothing more they can do for her. In the spirit of cooperation. with SovietAmerican relations at a crucial juncture. I strongly encourage the Soviet Union to allow the Meimans to emigrate to Israel.*
