Mr. President. my friends. Naum and Inna Meiman. live in the Soviet Union. They have endured harrassment and fear for years since applying to emigrate from the Soviet Union to Israel. Naum was an original member of the Moscow Human Rights Monitoring Group. formed after the Soviets signed the Helsinki accords. He is a mathematician by profession but has been barred from any institute for years. He is not allowed to interact with other prolessionals and cannot contribute to the world of mathematics. Inna is a wonderful. courageous woman battling cancer of the spine. She was able to obtain limited treatment in Moscow. but would most likely benefit greatly from experiment treatment available to her only in the West.
