This agent was terminated on April 26. 1985. and the judges decision was announced on September 10. 1985. It is now 9 months after that decision. and 14 months after his terminationand still no end in sight. As illustrated in the case of my three Border Patrol agents. the agency had the power. money. and time to outlast its employees. Passage of this bill will help equalize this disparity. I believe this legislation will not only help Federal employees regain a sense of fairness. but will also save the Federal Treasury millions of dollars in back salary awards when the higher administrative body upholds a favorable regional ruling.
