Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990200556

In view of this years scheduled meeting between President Reagan and General Secretary Gorbachev. this is an important time for us to renew our approach and analysis of the problems confronting Soviet Jews. By working together. our unified voice will help to secure the future of the Soviet Jewish community. The Soviet Union has often shown that it is susceptible to outside world opinion. It is such opinion and the pressure of governments insisting that the U.S.S.R. honor its international commitments upon which rests the fate of Jewish emigration. We must never relent in our efforts to gain freedom of expression and religion for Soviet Jews.
