Speech #990189599

Mr. Speaker. I rise in support of House Resolution 409. which expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that the Department of Justice should thoroughly and expeditiously examine evidence regarding the activities of former United Nations Secretary General Kurt Waldheim during World War II and should determine whether such evidence requires that he be denied admission to the United States under provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act. I am a cosponsor of this resolution and I appreciate the work by its sponsor. the gentleman from New York . Mr. Speaker. I would like to point out that our Committee on Foreign Affairs has been active in investigating the foreign policy aspects of the Waldheim affair.
