They have a right to leave. We have people leave the United States. people leave West Germany. people leave Brazil. People do emigrate. Most of the times they emigrate so that they might be with their beloved ones who are living in a different country. But the fact is that the Soviet Union has made their policy directly related to the temperature that exists between this country and their country. In recent years. the number of exit visas issued to Soviet Jews desiring to emigrate to Israel has dropped precipitously. Now. is that not illogical? That because they are somehow unhappy with the United Statesand I wish they were not. because I believe all freedomloving people in this country really would like to see detente. would like to see movement forward and finding the Soviet Union and this Nation being able to live together and work together and. yes. hopefully. to disarm togetherwhy should that relationship have such an impact upon those who are in the Soviet Union regardless of their religion?
