Few can argue that there are problems in Central America. but I think we make a grave mistake if we ignore an even greater concern that is closer to home. I refer to Mexico. Mexico is not some distant trouble spotits right next door. If our neighbor gets into serious trouble. we can hardly expect to escape unharmed. Problems have a way of spilling over borders. We can see that in the evergrowing numbers of illegal immigrants crossing the borders. We can also see it in the business failures on the U.S. side of the border that followed in the wake of the peso devaluation. But still larger troubles may be in store for Mexicoand for us.
