Yet the single most emotional and moving experience of my visit was the evening I spent with Naum and Inna Meimanliving examples of the triumph of the human spirit. I will never forget the evening I spent with the Meimans. and I hope they will never forget that they are not alone. The Meimans and other Soviet Jews who wish to emigrate have friends and supporters around the world. Forty years after the holocaust. 40 years after Leningrad. the world is both a vastly different place and a notsodifferent place. A generation which knew the horrors of World War II has been succeeded by a generation which must never know the horrors of nuclear war.
