In 1984 alone 433.788 Tennesseans did not qualify for Medicaid and had no health insurance. During that year community health centers in the State of Tennessee provided services to a total of 126.203 people. 60 percent of whom had no medical insurance. During that same year. migrant health centers also served 1.121 individuals. These health centers are a very important part of our Nations health care delivery system. They complement. rather than compete with. other providers in areas where there is a critical shortage of health services for the medically indigent.
