Chairman. we must not forget. however. that despite this impressive record of achievement. health centers still reach less than onefourth of our Nations 25 million medically underserved residents. We cannot ignore the fact that health centers are becoming the only affordable provider of health care services for a growing number of Americans. Yet. just as so many Americans rely on health centers for their continued good health. the community and migrant health centers of our Nation rely on the Federal Government for their continued good health. We need a strong and effective health center network throughout our Nation and H.R. 2418 is necessary to achieve that worthy objective. I strongly urge my colleagues to join me in supporting this vital measure.
