HI. 39 years ago. His parents operated a small retail store in the upcountry farming village of Keopu on the Kona Coast of the island of Hawaii. his mother. Mitsue. has managed the business since the death of her husband in the year Ellison became 21 years of age. His grandparents on both sides were immigrant sugar workers from Japan. His brother Claude manages the Kona Community Federal Credit Union. He also is survived by two sisters: Norma Sakamoto of Honolulu and Shirley Matsuoka of Kona.
