Each one only desires that measure of freedom to speak out which we in the United States take for granted. Soviet Jews and others. under the previously mentioned arragements. have a right to family reunification. This is most certainly not taking placeinstead. it appears that the new year has brought a redoubling of the harassment and arrests against human rights activists. regardless of their religious affiliation. cultural heritage. or political leanings. But I urge the Soviet Government to take heed to what is said today. because their actions will strongly influence our reaction in the Congress.
