Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990116304

Mr. Speaker. other things are happening. A hearing was held yesterday in the Subcommittee on Immigration in the other body. In that hearing. it was perfectly clear. in fact I think it was admitted by the Immigration and Naturalization Service. that the case was simply bungled. it was mishandled. it should not have been handled the way it was. There will be a hearing. I will announce to the House. tomorrow afternoon in the Subcommittee on Europe and the Middle East of this House of Representatives where a similar investigation will take place into the reasons why the State Department and the INS handled this case the way it did.
