Mr. Speaker. when I was a young man in Trinidad. I met another young man. a doctor from Grenada. We both were interested in politics. But we found ourselves on opposite sides of the political fence. Nevertheless. over the years we became friends. After a time. I emigrated to the United States and began a career in politics. My friend went to England and did the same thing. I take a lot of pride in my long association with the good doctor. I take pride in the fact that he is only the third black man to have been elevated by the Queen to the House of Lords.
