Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990081518

President. let me conclude just by saying that what Senator WILSON says shows the sensitivity of a man who was mayor of the municipality of San Diego. That I can understand. There is not any need to develop it further. except he is after the same approach I am: that is humane immigration reform. We are both on the same track. Hopefully. we can do it before we get to methods that are not humane or less fitting to our country. like 2.000 miles of barbed wire. "cactus curtains." or some other recommendations I have had made to me as chairman of the Immigration Subcommittee. I admire the intensity of his feeling. I will not go any further.
