I would refer to a number of the comments which I made which are quoted in that article with respect first to the issue of amnesty. which is the principal subject about which I would like to talk in this special order. I make the following points: That amnesty rewards lawbreakers. Why should illegal aliens become citizens when millions of legal aliens are waiting their turn to enter the United States? I make the point that amnesty could be very costly. Public expenses for education. welfare. and other needs will soar. and who is going to pay for what we legislate if we are not careful?
