Soviet Jews are the victims of harassment. It is my hope and prayer all our efforts eventually will help in bringing the Soviet government around to treating the refuseniks with the respect and common decency that we all. as human beings. deserve. Although Soviet authorities consistently deny that a Soviet Jew emigration "problem" exists. we must continue to press for them to adhere to the Helsinki accords. to which they are a party. and which would require each signator to protect fundamental human rights including the right to freedom of movement. Let us be continually concerned about the future of Soviet Jews. or any other religious minority group be they Jew. German. or Armenian. who wish to emigrate from that country. We must not let the world forget the plight of the Soviet Jews and other religious minorities who continuously are denied basic human rights in their land and who. at the same time. are denied the opportunity to emigrate to the freedom that exists in other lands and Join their families.*
