Mr. Speaker. I want to pay tribute to a group of Denverites. led by Esther Cohen. who have formed the Golda Meir Memorial Association. Golda Meir lived in Denver from 1913 to 1921 when she and her husband emigrated to Palestine in order to help establish an independent Jewish state. Meirs 8 years in Denver were significant in the development of her political thought and her support for what ultimately became Israel. Fortyeight years after leaving Denver. Meir became Israels Prime Minister. Esther Cohen and her association are to be commended for a long. ardous campaign to save the Meir home in Denver from destruction.
