Mr. Speaker. today I rise to bring to the attention of my colleagues the latest Soviet attempts to eradicate Jewish culture from Soviet society. I also pray for the countless number of Jews who remain in the Soviet Union against their will and are waiting for permission to emigrate to the State of Israel. In the past month. many of my colleagues. and I have received an increasing number of reports from the Soviet Union of Inhumane treatment of Soviet Jewish refuseniks imprisoned in labor camps. We have been particularly concerned about the most recent outrageous treatment of Yuli Edelshtein. a Hebrew teacher currently Imprisoned in Camp Vidrino on the SinoSoviet border.
