Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990063941

We dont see children rounded up and sent off to the Soviet Union. never to see their parents again. There are no pictures of bombed out villages. or people wandering aimlessly with their few remaining possessions strapped to their backs. The Soviet bombers. the Soviet troops. and the Sovietmade destruction of a country and a people are missing from our television screens. But its there. Its just hard to remember its real. We do hear reports from Afghan refugees and health officials who have been in afghanistan. But the reports are almost too painful to hear. Wed rather not hear about boobytrapped toys planted by the Soviets. or animals tortured rather than killed.
