The sense of the Senate resolution I introduce today attempts to underscore the Cuban Governments accountability for its reckless actions. We cannot remain silent over the hardships imposed on the Cuban people by their own Government. We cannot accept Cubas unilateral repudiation of the December 14 immigration accord and its disavowal of the return of the Mariel criminals. We must not ignore that Cubas retaliation is made at the expense of innocent Cubans whose only crime is a belief in democracy and a longing to be free. Mr. President. I urge my colleagues to join me in approving this resolution condemning the Cuban Governments retaliation and urging them to reestablish the immigration agreement with the United States.
