Even though as an Egyptian Christian in a Moslem country. he risks his life to return there. he was also denied asylum in this country. My bill would allow Reverend Girgis to adjust the status to that of a permament resident while remaining in this country. That way he would be able to continue his important ministry and maintain his close contact with his family. which now includes a young daughter born in the United States. I hope that the Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration. Naturalization. and International Law. to which this bill will be referred. will be prompt to hold hearings. When that day comes. I look forward to the opportunity to testify on behalf of Reverend Girgis.o
