Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990056013

They have been denied permission to leave the U.S.S.R. three times. the latest refusal coming in September 1981. No reason was given for the refusals. After their application was first filed in 1979. Ina was forced to leave her Job. She and David now teach Hebrew to Soviet Jews wishing to emigrate to Israel. Employment in a classified occupation is an excuse commonly cited by Soviet officials in the detainment of Jews. Neither Ina nor David have ever held classified jobs. which makes their visa refusal particularly frustrating. They are being held for no apparent reason. They only wish to join their family and friends already living in the Jewish homelandIsrael.
