BEILENSON. and ERDREICH. a bill to permit the placement in the Capitol of a statute honoring Haym Salomon. who has long been regarded as the symbol of American Jewish participation in and contribution to the struggle for American Independence. The bill would also permit the erection of a national monument to Haym Salomon on Federal land in the District of Columbia. Haym Salomon was like so many Americans an immigrant. who had come to the new world for political and economic freedom. He first lived in New York and later in Philadelphia. Haym Salomon was no armchair or deskbound patriot.
