In the United States. many of us take for &tanted the freedoms we enjoyespecially the freedom of religion and the freedom to travel and live anywhere we choose. The Jews living in the Soviet Union yearn for these freedoms. They yearn to practice their religion freely and to emigrate to their homeland. But these freedoms. which are fully guaranteed by the Soviet Constitution. are being denied to thousands of Jews. One such case is Polina Kozlavskaya. a 66yearold widow who is trying to reunite with her son and daughter in Israel. When the children first applied for exit visas. Polina did not apply with them because her husband. their father. was very ill and could not move. After his death.
