For years I have been writing letters and speaking out on this issue. It is my sincere hope that by actually going to the Soviet Union I can be a more effective advocate on behalf of thousands of refuseniks. Mr. Speaker. all of us in Congress represent constituents who are fighting for the right of friends and family to live as Jews In the Soviet Union or to emigrate. In solidarity with them. and because we believe in human rights and religious freedom. we must all Join forces in behalf of Soviet Jews. This human rights issue is of paramount concern.
