Mark Nashpitz. remains. like so many others. frustrated in his efforts to obtain permission to leave. The combination of a virulent antiSemitic campaign and the almost complete chokingoff of Jewish emigration is destroying whatever is left of Jewish culture and Jewish life in the Soviet Union. As Americans who proudly protect the rights to freedom of religion. we must strive to persuade the new regime of the senselessness and cruelty of this policy. Our voices must speak for those that are muffled by repression.
