Such action is clearly a violation of the spirit of the Helsinki accords which guarantee freedom of religious practice to citizens of the signatory nations. As a member of a free nation we must speak out against such violations by the Soviet Union. We must seek the enforcement of the Helsinki accords and impress upon the Soviet Union our objection to the denial of basic human rights. It is my hope that the government officials in the Soviet Union responsible for this unfortunate situation reconsider their decision and allow Julia Stolar to join her family this weekend as they emigrate to Israel.*
